Discussion:
Redirect "All Users" desktop and start menu for different groups

Is there a way to redirect the All Users profile effect for specific
groups of users? I have different user groups for which it would be
very convenient to assign desktop icons and start menu items to add to
their own just as they would from the All Users profile, and that the
desktop and start menu items in the real All Users profile not be
applied to them. I do not want to use mandatory profiles or redirect
all the users in a group to a single desktop or start menu folder, as
they each should be able to have their own desktops. In this case,
the users in question are on a 2008 R2 terminal server if that makes a
difference.

Thanks.

From the lack of responses, it would seem nobody can say how to
specify different "all users" profiles for different groups.

Does anyone out there know how to specify either for a group or for
individual users to ignore the general "All Users" profile? That is,
a given user's desktop and start menu should not include all the items
from the "All Users" profile, but the "All Users" items are not
blocked from all other users.

Thanks.

This is a guess, since I don't know the profile piece of this puzzle,
only the "final answer" part, but...

If you can control file access permissions via profiles, then putting
deny on the groups/users via ACL in the "all users" profile (or perhaps
the parts of it you need to, such as "desktop" or "start menu") should
do the trick.
