Gateway & proxy settings through GPO

Hi all

I am running Windows 2000 Server. I want to know how I could enforce all
clients to change their gateway to a different IP than the existing one, and
also how to disable the proxy setting in IE and dont allow users to change
it.

This is basically due to a new installation of a web content filter in the
company. Previously we used a proxy server and now I am using a multihomed
server.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hello Paul,

Do you use a DHCP server and which OS version are the clients? With DHCP
you can change the scope settings for the edefault gateway and you are done.

Otherwise you have to use a startup script with neths command.

If you set the proxy server with GPO domain users shouldn't be able to change
the proxy address.

Proxy server:
User configuration, windows settings, internet explorer maintenance, connection,
in the right pane choose proxy settings and configure them for your needs.

Prevent changes from connection tab:
User configuration, administrative templates, Windows components, internet
explorer, in the right pane enable "Disable changing connection settings"
