Discussion:
"RPC Server Unavailable" error when using Group Policy Results Wizard
(too old to reply)

I'm trying to run the Group Policy Results Wizard in SBS 2003 SP1. When I
get to the Computer Selection screen, select the computer, and click "Next"
I then get an error "RPC Server is Unavailable." Both RPC and WMI services
are running on the target computer, so I'm not sure what else to check.
I have some results that I ran a while back and saved. When I try to rerun
those, I get the same error.
I also have installed ISA 2004, not sure if that would have anything to do
with it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Are you sure that the target system name is resolvable
and also reachable?
Is the firewall turned on on the target computer?
If so, in the firewall policy settings is it set to allow
remote management?

Are you sure that the target system name is resolvable
and also reachable?
I can ping -a the target computer and returns an IP, so I assume that's
working.

Is the firewall turned on on the target computer?
ISA 2004 is installed on the server but the local firewall is also installed
on the target PCs.

Not sure what you mean by this but I can access the target PC with Remote
Desktop Connection.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

That is different. Look in the admin template settings for the Firewall
and you will see a policy to allow remote management.

I see.
I looked in the GP and Remote Management was not enabled. I enabled it,
applied the GPO, restarted the workstation and still get the same error.
I know the GPO works because I made a change (unrelated) and it applied it
on the target workstation.
