Has anyone seen or found a fix for the issue where some client machines have
a flashing of the monitor(s) during auto or manual group policy refreshes? I
was able to deduce based on the timing of this flashing that it might be
policy related and then I was able to repro the issue by gpupdate /force.
This happens on several machines. I have several OUs and a few different GPOs.

I can imagine this has something got to do with Active Desktop policies
in place. In fact, I haven't seen such a thing before. Is is
reproducable with all client machines or just a bunch of them? I'd try
to narrow down if there is a connection between OUs/applied policies and
the flash-clients.

Florian,

Thanks for the post. I can narrow it down some I believe, but not to one OU
or to even one policy. It also doesn't affect all machines in the same OU.

The only common link I can find is that in the affected OUs, there is a
similar policy attached which sets IE proxy settings. We have two different
policies to send users of the OUs to one of two proxy servers.

As a test, I removed a user from the OU with this policy into one which
isn't affected by either proxy policy and he didn't seem to notice the
flickering screen during the policy refresh.

At this point this is a real annoyance, but not a show stopper. The real
problem is that I can't find any posts or KBs about this anywhere. Someone
else must have experienced this or something like it. They just must not have
deduced that it was GP related.

Thanks,

Rick
