Hello

I have an windows server 2003 does windows 7 work ok? do do i need to updare
the group policy managment?

It'll work in a Server 2003 environment. However for certain policies
and features, you'll have to re-define special Windows 7-Group Policies
(Windows Firewall with advanced settings is an example). For those,
you'll have to install a Win7/Server 2008 management station.

Hello Jason,

You don't have to install Windows 7/Windows server 2008 on the Windows server
2003, youb have to use a machine installed with the OS and RSAT to manage
GPOs for Windows 7.

No, not at all. What you need is just *some* Win7/Server 2008 machine.
That can be a VM or a member server. It doesn't matter. What's important
is that you use the RSAT (Remote Server Administration Toolkit) of one
of those systems to manage Group Policy. Only those are capable of
rolling out Windows7/Server 2008 settings. That's all.

Hello Jason,

You can add Windows 7 machines to a domain with Windows server 2003 DCs without
any problem. GPOs you have to configure from the Windows 7 machine, there
fore install the RSAT on a Windows 7 machine:
