Discussion:
Setting a policy for certain users

Hello,

I have three users within my domain that I want to set a password
for. The rest of the users I don't want a policy for. Is this
possible?

I thought I would great an AD group called something like "Using
Password Policy" add the users and then set the policy just for this
group.

Not sure if it is possible or if that is the way to do it.

Any thoughts?

As long as you're in a Windows Server 2003 DFL domain, you won't be able
to do that. The Password Policy is mandatory for all users of the
domain. There are third party tools around that do this.

Hello Hartbypass,

If you use Windows server 2008 and higher OS as DC(and functional level)
then you can do it, otherwise not without 3rd party tools.

Best regards

Sorry a little hasty in my reply. Are there any 3rd party tools
people can recommend for this?
