Regional Settings GPO preferences
(too old to reply)

Hello,

I have a weird problem. I have 2008 AD with a GPO created which contains
only one preference item for setting regional options:

tab: Regional Options: Slovak (slovakia) - green
tab: Currency: Currency Symbol = Euro - green
everything else is red
every other tab is all red
tab: Common: Run in logged on user's security context

the actual result on a 2008 Enterprise 32bit ENG Uptodate Terminal Server
with User Experience installed is:

Arabic + Euro

What is wrong? Is it my setup, or is there an implementation bug, please?

Thank you very much.

Ondrej Sevecek.

Is there another GPO in place that might set that regional option? Can
you export the XML file and paste the content here?

cheers,
Florian

no conflicting objects at all (GP Modelling/Result says so)

The .XML follows:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
- <Regional clsid="{BDBA23C2-DE02-434e-8D89-13E53CB6710B}">
- <RegionalOptions clsid="{C126A328-BECF-4acc-BA8D-C9C7F6B84E49}"
name="Slovak (Slovakia)" changed="2009-03-20 10:11:10"
uid="{11C3FE1D-1BD3-442B-ADF9-AD85515B10C3}" userContext="1"
removePolicy="0">
<Properties currSymbol="?" localeId="1051" localeName="Slovak (Slovakia)"
/>
- <Filters>
<FilterRunOnce hidden="1" not="0" bool="AND"
id="{829C4665-F92B-4741-BBEB-275A9FACAC4F}" />
</Filters>
</RegionalOptions>
</Regional>

I found a bugg:
If you export the regional options in the gpo editor to xml, you find a localeId in the properties.
This value is in decimals and the value in the regsitry has to be in hex. And ex 2057 decimal is not the same as 2057 hex. You will get that excel does not work anymore and other stuff.

Try to find a solution for it. Maybe by making a custom policy without this option.

Tip:
there is a tool regtoadm or regtoxadm. This tool can export a regsitry key to adm/admx.
So you can use it as an normal administrative template.
